Messy cars. We've seen them, we've ridden in them, we've owned them. Depending on how you look at it, a messy car can mean all sorts of things. Memories of a day well-spent with loved ones can be marked by an ice cream on the upholstery, and a layer dust on the dashboard might mean you chose to make a homecooked meal instead of visiting the drive-through. Whatever your perspective on messy cars is, there are still times when you want a clean, pristine vehicle. And when that time arrives, follow these car cleaning tips to save time and money in pursuit of a center counsel you could eat off of.

DIY Car Hacks: Car Cleaning Tips

Line your cup holders with cupcake liners to keep dirt, crumbs, and debris from getting into hard-to-reach nooks and crannies. If your cup holders are gunked up as we speak, use a Q-Tip dipped in all-purpose cleaner to get them looking good-as-new.

Instead of tossing out toothbrushes that are past their six-month mark, hold onto them for scrubbing away stubborn stains in textured vinyl. Toothbrushes are also great for getting crumbs out of seat cushion seams.

Remove stubborn pet hair from fabric seats with two dollar store purchases: a spray bottle filled with water and a squeegee.

FYI, floor mats can safely go in the washing machine. Just spray them down with cleaner and toss them right into the washer. But remember, floor mats are not dryer safe. It's best if you hang or lay them flat to dry.

That's just a few of my favorite car cleaning tips that are quick, easy, and inexpensive. But, I'm always looking for more. What DIY car hacks do you use to keep your car clean?
